Laura Dusso, MA, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  She joined the clinic in 2021 and is located at the Rochester Satellite Office.  Laura works with children age 2 years and older, adolescents, individual adults, couples, and families.

Laura collaborates with clients on many presenting problems including anxiety, depression, relationship conflicts, challenging family dynamics, life transitions, parenting support, family of origin issues, stress management, grief and loss, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms.  Her approach to therapy is eclectic and client centered, using ideas from Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems, and Mind-Body connections.  Laura's goal is to empower clients navigating changes to live a fulfilling life.  She strives to provide a safe, nonjudgmental, inclusive, and confidential space for clients to feel comfortable to talk openly about issues affecting them and their lives.  Laura believes in the importance of building a therapeutic relationship based on honesty and respect, and offers support, feedback, and a listening ear.  She finds that healing and resolving difficult issues occurs when clients genuinely feel heard and understood.  

Laura is trained to use a range of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with adolescents and adults; MAP certification, which is Managing and Adapting Practice with youth; and is nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) for youth ages 3-18 years old and their caregivers.  She is also trained in Sand Tray Therapy and utilizes Play Therapy techniques with children.

Laura's undergraduate degree is from Winona State University in Psychology and her Master's degree is from Saint Mary's University in Counseling Psychology.  In addition, she has a Post-Master's Certification in Marriage and Family Therapy, also from Saint Mary's.  Prior to entering private practice, Laura worked for 5 years in youth day treatment school settings, 2 years at medical facilities, 3 years of in-home family therapy and 14 years of outpatient therapy at a community agency.
