Ashley Nissen, MA, LPCC joined the clinic in 2019 and is located at the Golden Valley office. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and works with individual adults ages 18 and older. Ashley believes we are born as connected and whole human beings, but through some experiences in life we can disconnect from our authentic self, leading to emotional distress, unhelpful thought patterns and behavioral difficulties. Ashley believes that by creating a safe and supportive space, clients can courageously navigate their inner world and reconnect to their innate wisdom so that they can live a full, meaningful life. With emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, Ashley uses a collaborative, client-centered approach and tailors her sessions to support each unique client.
With mindfulness and self-compassion as the foundation of her therapeutic process, Ashley uses a holistic and integrative approach including yoga, breath-work and meditation, as well as evidence-based practices such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and solution-focused therapy. Ashley offers services for depression, anxiety, eating disorders, life transitions, identity development and self-esteem concerns. Ashley is a highly sensitive person and particularly enjoys supporting other highly sensitive people and empaths in learning how to navigate an oftentimes overstimulating world.
Ashley graduated with a B.A. in Business Communications from Augustana College and a M.A. in Counseling from Adler Graduate School.
